Acting & Production Boot Camp: Much Ado About Nothing
By William Shakespeare
“I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow, than a man swear he loves me.”
-William Shakespeare (Beatrice, Much Ado)
Sigh no more, actors! Live Arts is here with its production of Shakespeare’s irreverent comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. With the guidance of a Live Arts director and artistic staff, you and your fellow actors will mount a boisterous production with fiesty lovers, dastardly deceptions, and suspenseful twists and turns that will surely have the audience gasping at the edge of their seats one moment and rejoicing in merriment the next. Wage the Bard’s “merry war” of wits in what will become an unforgettable Live Arts show.
In the first week of camp you’ll go through the audition process and participate in a crash course in all you need to know to act in a Live Arts Shakespearean production, including script analysis, voice & movement work, and exploration of Shakespearean text. In the second week of camp you and your faculty of seasoned theater artists will get deep into rehearsals as you focus on building stage presence, creating a character, and making bold choices. Finally, the camp will culminate in two public performances. This is your chance to act in a Live Arts show while making new friends, collaborating with professional theater artists and practicing your acting skills! All roles are available and enrollment is limited so that every performer will be featured.
