Musical Theater Production Camp: SEUSSICAL KIDS (Ages 8-11)
Two Weeks

Rehearsal/Camp: August 3rd – August 14th
Monday-Friday 9:30am-3pm
Tuition: $540

Join the Live Arts Youth Theater Company in our groundbreaking and creative online production of SEUSSICAL KIDS! Our talented teaching artists will offer a rich, fun, and rewarding online camp experience, primarily using the Zoom video-conferencing platform, which we like for its reliability, ease of use, and option for campers to use virtual backgrounds for privacy purposes (and for fun!)

Edwina Herring will direct and choreograph SEUSSICAL Camp. Edwina is a long-time Live Arts teacher, director, actor, playwright, and volunteer. She directed a delightful production of SEUSSICAL at Tandem Friends School in May 2019 (in person, of course, but in any case she knows the show inside and out)! Edwina has this to say about SEUSSICAL Camp:

“What I love most about SEUSSICAL is that it’s a story about connection. Horton the Elephant discovers a world of friendship when he least expects it. It may not be something that he can see, but he knows it is real all the same. Sometimes, just knowing that someone out there cares about you makes all the difference. What better message to explore this summer? I am truly looking forward to telling this story with all of you! Let’s sing, play, and create a vivid world of friendship together. Let’s make connections. And let’s remember that no one is Alone in the Universe. See you then!”

The amazing Natalee McReynolds is our Musical Director for SEUSSICAL camp! We are so lucky to have the benefits of her talent, upbeat and professional style, and extensive teaching and music directing experience. Natalee says this about 2020 camps:

“If there’s one thing we can learn from Seussical, it’s that ANYTHING’S POSSIBLE, including learning and performing a musical virtually! Don’t feel ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE just because we have to keep ourselves socially distanced; come have fun and discover THE THINGS YOU CAN THINK. Can’t wait to MONKEY AROUND with all of you!”

A sample Daily Schedule is below. Activities that can be completed at a camper’s own speed on breaks or after camp, like memorization, practice assignments, and more, will also be provided.

This summer’s online forum offers us really exciting final presentation opportunities! The staff and our campers will put together an online gallery of work to share, which will include video clips, recorded Zoom work, and more. We won’t need to think about rotating casts in the traditional way–we will have time and space for more campers to work on more parts they’re interested in taking on. Creativity will abound! No special tech know-how needed–we will work with the campers to make all this happen!

Please contact Education Director Miller Susen at [email protected] with questions about the online camp format.
