This is your chance to join the Live Arts Youth Theater Company in one of our third annual Summer Musicals, The Wizard of Oz — Young Performers’ Edition. You and your fellow castmates will embark on a three-week musical theater journey culminating in four public performances on the Gibson Stage. This is your chance to perform in a full Live Arts show while making new friends, collaborating with professional musical theater artists, and singing, dancing, and acting! This year’s musical production camps have more events than ever, including a cast party at Live Arts after the final show and a surprise performance of musical numbers on the Downtown Mall.

This musical, and the film on which it is based, has been entertaining audiences for generations.

Dorothy Gale, a young girl living on a Kansas farm with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, dreams of escaping her mundane life when suddenly, a cyclone hits, and transports Dorothy and her dog Toto to the Land of Oz. Dorothy, seeking a way back home to Kansas, sets off to see the Wizard of Oz to find her way home.

Participation in The Wizard of Oz — Young Performers’ Edition is by audition only. Please contact us in advance of the audition dates to schedule an audition time. Performers must be rising 3rd-9th graders at the time of camp in order to participate. Prior experience in theater or performance is recommended for this camp.

Auditions take place at Live Arts on Sunday, March 25 and Saturday, April 14. Auditioners will attend one audition day only and may also audition for Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids at the same time. Following the auditions, campers will be notified of admittance to the camp, at which time parents can register. (There is no need to complete the registration form prior to the auditions). Callbacks and final role assignments will take place on the first two days of camp.
